You mentioned adding friends. Here's some handy info.

When you look at my username - [livejournal.com profile] marrog, what you see (because of the way I wrote it, I'll tell you the code in a minute) is my name, with a little head in front of it. When you click the head on my username, it takes you to my userinfo, and when you click the name itself it takes you to my journal.

The easiest way to add me as a friend (for you guys at the moment, there are other ways of doing it when you have lots of friends), is simply to go to my userinfo, and you'll see a little bar of buttons above the info itself. One of them is that same little head with a plus next to it. Clicking that adds me to your friends list.

The tag you use to display my name that way, by the way, is <*lj user="your_username_here">, but without the *.

I think that's enough for now. Love you guys, sooo glad you have a journal, byeee!

...As an ammendment to that, I should point out that the username links in your friends list on your userinfo don't take you to their journals, they take you to their userinfo, so that works too.

I'm not helping here am I?

By the way, why are you screening comments? It means people can' see and reply to one another... not that there's anyone here yet but there will be...

You can change that setting (if you want to) under manage --> info --> drop-down box on that (long) page giving you your screening options. If you just don't want randoms commenting on your journal, 'non-friends' is a good one to use. Once you figure out how to make friends, that is.
