Can't sleep
Hello all
It's 4:38am and I have to get be at work in 4 hours and 52 minutes... Make that 51.
Been having trouble sleeping lately, which is unlike me of late. Generally I have trouble being awake.
..50...
Everything's fucked here. I wanna come home. There's a friend of Dave's called Quentin who works at the club, and I se the term loosely. He gets drunk and lols about at the club. Today he was being a wanker and told Ari he's been there longer than her and he knows what he's doing or something. I wasn't there. He's a fuckwit.
It's getting progressively more and more draining being the only ones who give a shit about the actual company. There's a guy called Alex who is probably taking over the job we're doing when we leave. He hasn't been offered it but seems to have told half of Brisbane that that's what's happening. He's getting really cocky, and though he's a lovely bloke, he's not the sharpest tool in the box and I'm not sure at all how he'll get on.
44...
We may be coming home a little earlier than anticipated. The solicitor sorting out our case re the flat needs me around and we may use this as an excuse to bugger off a bit earlier - maybe come back nearer the start of the festival. That would be great. Life is wierd.
On a positive note, Ari had a huge long chat with my Mum the other day! She called whilst I was at the club and they talked about Rich and stuff.
Very good progress.
Anyway I'm being incredibly boring and have to get up in 4 hours, so I'd better go (probably not to sleep just yet, but to further internet surfing. God, I love the World Wide Web)
Love yous!

I hope you're feeling better when you read this and that you have a chocolate croissant. They are very nice you see.
Love to you and The Ned,

If Visas are sorted then what holds you to this job you hate?

1 - Loyalty. For all that Alex is telling all of Brisbane he has my job when I leave, he is nowhere near trained up and at the moment Dave needs us. He has a 3 week old baby and wouldn't be able to cope. Other than being a pschopathis control freak, Dave is a lovely bloke and we owe him more than we could ever repay in kindheartedness.
2 - Money. We are actually on good money and can get some debts sorted - eg paying my mortgage that I owe due to the Rich saga, before coming home to an uncertain employment future.
3 - Fiji. We have to go for a week or so for Ari to sort out some research for her play. Also affecting this, see [2]
4 - Family commitments. We have to go up to Rocky again, Ari's parents and sister are over in a couple of weeks.
5 - I don't actually hate the job, it's just draining. May be Ari does. That's because of the way she gets treated and I would too if I was her. It's good experience and good references.
The plan, though, is to work the next couple of weeks, then take a week off when Philip, Anne and Alex are here, and all trudge up to Rocky to see everyone, possibly for the last time before we leave. Then come back, work a further 3 weeks, go to Fiji for just over a week, and come home as soon as we get back (previous plan was to go to Fiji for 2 weeks early August, come back and spend a week or two getting everything sorted, and come home early September.) I'm just going to tell Dave I need to be at home for all the polive stuff. It actually only has us leaving Dockside 1 week earlier than planned, and maybe spending a little less time in Abu Dhabi, and being home just as the Festival starts, which should hopefully be good work-wise. We won't be able to get anything brilliant because we won't be able to go through an interview process, but people always need flyerers!
Didn't mean the point by point analysis to sound patronising. It's a question we ask a lot ourselves.
