Hello darlings,
Lovely Naomi, you are lovely. Marc is lovely and it is all lovely.
I am contented and fat. I am full of tea and bacon and egg sandwich. We spent our first night in Dave's luxury apartment last night. We got very drunk and ate lots of food and massaged eachother's feet with this lovely oily salty scrub stuff we bought in the markets on the eagle street pier. Hummmm....content content...
A couple of days ago I recieved an email from my dad saying that one of our best family friends, a fellow lecturer we knew in Rocky called Jeff Young, has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and only has three months to live. Jeff was so cool. He was a clever, foul mouthed little Chinese man with the most incredible moustache. He was one of the bits of our childhood that Tristan and I remember fondly. We really loved him. I have to go to Rocky to see him, to be the ambassador for my family who can't be there. I'm worried about my dad, who probably won't be able to get time away or a ticket together. Now see when I said you're fine when you're on the same land mass? For events such as this, being so far apart is not just a fucker, it's a heartbreaker and a destroyer.
Anyway. Time for another cup of tea, a little stretching, perhaps a snooze. Then I'll go out and shop for food and ticket to Rocky. Bah. At least grandma will be pleased to see me.
Ooh, cool news which I might have forgotten to mention. My uncle Michael was awarded the Australian Medal of Honour for demonstrating courage under fire while leading troops in Iraq. He was part of the medical station in the killing fields north of Baghdad. And apparently got shot at quite a lot. Yay Michael! These days he's still on 24 hour alert in case of Bali stuff. It turns out he was the one in charge of mobilizing the Australian air force rescue of victims of the first bombing.
I have cool relatives.
Love
Ari.

Date: 2006-02-13 04:31 pm (UTC)Anyway that was a weird thing to say for My First Comment. I don't even know if you remember me but I'm Alice and used to be a jumper at Auld Reekie, way back like two summers ago. I remember you because you were fabulous and beautiful and ridiculously nice to me even when I fucked stuff up all the time. It is so beautiful that you and Lizzie got together! Seriously, I was so happy for you when I found this journal (I was just poking about on Morag's one, incase you wondered). Just had to 'friend' you guys and read about your exciting adventures, for vicarious excitement in the little academic cloister that is final year. Joy. So anyway, now I'm officially not a weird stalker any more. Your 'luxury apartment' sounds so fabulous. You make me utterly want to run away to... well, somewhere warm, anyway.
