Hey folks.
We no longer work for Dockside.
Wierd. We had our last night of comedy, after spending the day packing up. All the pictures are down, we've lovingly taken the blutac off the faded notes on the wall from our leaving party last year 'Do not forget me lesbians' 'Sian smells' 'you are wonderwoman' "I am a bee' and other such profundities.
We're coming home. The last lag has begun. We fly out to Fiji tomorrow and when we get back it's just a week til we're home. Properly home. I never want to leave again.
I can't wait to see you all.
I feel tired all over from working at the club and packing and cleaning all day and all night. I am not sad to leave Brisbane. But I am feeling a melancholy about leaving grandma. She's wonderful. When I was little and things were bad, her front veranda was the only place I felt safe and unconditionally loved, free of emotional instability and violence. I could talk to her about anything then when I never talked to anyone else. In some ways it is still the only place that feels like home. Or maybe one of the places. Maybe there isn't one home, but lots of little islands where you remember feeling loved.
