Car update - for those who asked

Brian tried to jumpstart it this morning but nothin' doing. So I called the mechanic who said he gets quite a lot of calls from people who say jumpstarting hasn't worked, and not to take contraceptive advice off Brian.
He then came out and tried to jumpstart it. It didn't work. I will continue to take advice from Brian, although whatever I'm doing so far seems pretty effective - not pregnant yet.
He was a terrible letch but quite useful and didn't charge me anything. He thinks that the battery ran flat, and when that happened it reactivated some hitherto disabled immobiliser. So I need to consult an auto-electrician - he gave me a number. Between suggesting I strip (although on reflection, he decided that comment was a bit off).
So hopefully it's just that, and it's an easy fix. He certainly didn't seem too worried. Nothing will happen until after the holiday though. Fingers crossed it's fixed in time to pick up John on the 25th.
