Happy Mondays: A tidy house is a tidy mind

Hello,
1. Thank you all so much for the lovely comments last week. Things are feeling a bit better. Had a lovely couple of days in the sunshine, hanging out with Ari, free of worrying about 50 things, and this was Well Good, as that God dude would say. I was still a bit wary at the end of last week but yesterday I feel like I had a bit of a turning point and going back to work today was quite good. Have to go back to the doctor on Friday, but should all be groovy.
2. Have continued to rearrange the house and clear things out, which has been very good for both our heads. We emptied the study, including the shelves, and took about 8 massive bags to the charity shop. We got a gorgeous new bookcase for £30 off Gumtree, which looks lovely in the sitting room. We now have almost nowhere where there is random crap, meaning there seems to be much less in our heads, too. We also turned the furniture round in the bedroom and now it's much sunnier. We seem to have to much more room in the house.
3. Didn't go to Beltane, for the first time in a good many years. Every year it seems to become less like I remember it, and more expensive. We did, however, hang about Regent Road, listen to the drumming and witness the extraordinary amount of crime going on! We basically went in a circle right round the bottom of Calton Hill and everywhere we went there were all kinds of people popping in and out of bushes trying to get up. It was very funny.
4. Watched the Royal Wedding. We went round to Hazel's and we all, with Andy and Julie (and briefly John) drank Buck's Fizz and ate home-baked scones and cucumber sandwiches, and marvelled at the dresses and got righteously angry at the weird bits. It was fun and historic and good and I'm dead happy for the wee guy that he's found someone he really loves, 'cause I think he really does.
5. Did my first proper paid proofreading, of someone's dissertation. Very fun and confirms that I would just love to make a living doing that. Trying to get the word out at unis and stuff - 'tis the season.
6. Went to The Faerie Court, Illicit Ink's inaugural performance (Ari and her MA dudes' writing/performance group). Ari was compering and was dead nervous but she was both beautiful and charming, as I knew she would be. Altogether, it went really well and I thought it was better than the one they did joint with Writer's Bloc.
7. Had dinner at Bonsai with Andy and Julie. Lovely food, drunky wine and delicious company. I like having dinner with people. I must be old.
8. Went to see The Memory of Water, the show that I had to bow out of producing. I really enjoyed it and am so glad they did well. I know I made the right decision - my Grandma died the very day I quit, and my recent meltdown would have been incredibly poorly timed. I do have residual guilt though, so was so pleased to see it go so successfully.
'Sprobably it. I think this week will be just the right side of busy.
Happy Monday!

9. I am now officially the Communications Secretary of the Society of Young Publishers Scotland. Hurrah!
10. Am helping out at the Hearts & Minds quiz tomorrow. Will be nice to see folk. I believe they still have spots left, if anyone decides to bring a team last minute (follow the link)
