Been a while

some of you may have noticed it's been a while since either of us last wrote anything of any interest. This is not because we intend to stop using Live Journal entirely (or I don't anyway) but because we have been busy having fun!! I apologise for any information below you have already heard, as many of you will have done
As most of you will know, we arrived back on home soil on August 7th with big plans to sleep all afternoon. We unfortunatley found the flat unsleepable in. No-one had thought to change the hoover bag in a year, so it had burst and we had to wait to go out and buy new ones before we could so much as sit down. As we arrived, the painter was just leaving. My mother had got the whole place repainted as Evil Rich had tried but apparently had been drunk at the time, as the painting was random and haphazard. I then discovered he had broken my clock that my brother bought me for my 21st birthday. I sat down and cried for about 10 minutes.
Stupid things Evil Rich has done/broken:
Coffee table had one leg ripped off. That's ripped off. It can only have been donw on purpose.
Dining room chair similarly broken.
Painted the front door of the flat, which we're not allowed to do anyway, but he had painted over the edges of the knobs and over the spyhole.
Broken the curtain rail by pulling it away from the wall.
Made the whole place stink of smoke. Every new cupboard we empty newly makes the whole place stink. The sofa covers had to be dry cleaned 4 times.
Put cigarette burns in the carpet. We have to replace them.
Not cleaned anything, including the windows which were thick with dirt and smoke on the inside.
Broken the standard lamp.
We are also having the bathroom replaced - which sort of needed doing anyway but he didn't look after it.
We have thrown away a lot of stuff, which breaks my heart as I hate just throwing away but there was nothing else that could have been done with most of it. We have also given armfuls and armfuls of stuff to the charity shop at theend ofthe road - stuff he left mainly, and we've had a general clearout anyway. We were very very lucky in that my Mum took us shopping - to John Lewis. She bought us a new duvet and pillows, and new lamps, and cleaning products, and fluffy white towels. Hmm. We have since sold both beds and bought a shiny new one which is ours and ours alone. We have finally clearedout all the cupboards and the last job is oven cleaning, which I made a start on yesterday. It will look lovely soon, and we will have a big party.
Shiny new jobs
Ari walked into the Tron to say hi when we first got back, just to say hi, and immediately got offered a job by Jan. She is now on the City of The Dead rota and working at the Tron and earning lots of shiny pennies whilst retaining her soul. I registered with Pertemps temping agency and I start tomorrow at Community Scotland, which is a branch of the Scottish Executive, as a PA/Team Secretary, on 6.93 an hour. It's very exciting. I have a pinstripe suit. I was expecting to be temping for a while, probably stuffing envelopes or on data entry, for 5 pounds an hour, but it turns out they agree that my CV is indeed very shiny looking these days! It's only until the end of October, with possible extension, but I'm looking for a permanent thing anyway. Few things in the pipeline.
The brilliance of being home, Ari and my Mum
Being home fucking rocks. I don't miss Australia in the slightest. I miss a few folk - Justin, Davo, Ari's grandma, for example but feel much more belongingful. The only thing I guess I miss as well is a more fulfilling job. I hope I like this one tomorrow, and I hope I find something good soon. But it's fab being able to call up real people and drink cider in proper pubs. And see my Mum again. I went home to Stratford for a week, got back Friday, and for the last 4 days Ari joined me too. It was ok. Ari met my brother Matt and my Grandma and a few folk form home. We spent lots of time with my Mum, and Ari did lots of things she didn't really want to do in order to ingratiate herself. Things are much better. She's accepted us a lot more now. And yes, we did share a room - my Mum runs a lodging house which consists of lots of twin rooms, so we got one of those. I asked her if she had told anyone and she said that she doesn't like to make a big deal of it, if anyone asks if I have boyfriend, she says 'No, she's got this girl she lives with and they're very happy.' Which is good. The next step comes when actually, it is a big deal. When we start wanting to get married and have babies, it's going to be just as hard all over again. Well, that's something we want now, and can't wait forever, but it's baby steps. It's come a long way in 18 months. We can wait a while longer. I hope! It still depresses me. I think I will always leave Stratford in a bit of a depressed fog, because however good it gets she is still ultimately ashamed of me and believes I am doing wrong.
So, on that jolly note...Ari is working at the Tron today, Ash called at 10 to say she is sick, and I promised I'd make sure she got lunch. Not sure what time she's on 'til.
Love you all still,
Lizziexxx
