timtams and coke for breakfast

Hello! The more observant and lovin amongst you will have noticed that we haven't posted for a few days. That's because we've been DOING STUFF!!!
Saturday morning we set off to a place called Great Keppel Island (their slogan is Great! Keppel Island!) We intended staying one night, in the backpackers place. But Keppel is beautiful and designed for people to not leave. So pretty much as soon as we got there we decided to stay an extra night!
The place we stayed at has a website where you can see quite how gorgeous it is - www.gkiholidayvillage.com.au And the thing to remember is - it REALLY does look like that.
The catamaran comes in onto Putney beach and you have to be careful not to get your feet wet. There are millions of beachs, bushland for walking and very little else. The day we got there we took it fairly easy, went to Fisherman's beach - where we saw a real live starfish. I have a fab picture of it on my phone but can't work out how to get the pics off my phone (any hints?) Then we sat up on the grass and watched the sunset with a bottle of wine (very romantic)
Body clocks still being dodgy, we managed to stay up till, ooh at least half 8 I think. Which meant we were up by 7 on Sunday. Investigating breakfast options, we bought coffee then lay in the hamocks at the hostel drinking coke and eating timtams. We felt like proper travellers.
After breakfast and sudokus (I have Ari properly hooked now. Ha ha I am an evil genius) we went snorkelling on Shelving Beach. Well, Ari did, and I did a bit but it turns out I'm a bit of a pommy poofter. There were jellyfish in the water which inexplicably caused me to panic (they weren't bad ones) I was some cool stuff but couldn't cope with the jellyfish and panic attacks in the middle of the pacific are not a good thing - have you tried hyperventilating through a snorkel tube with your head in the sea, metres (seems liek miles) from shore? Not much fun. Ari saw loads of stuff though, and I did see some funky fish. We'll try again some time.
After lunch we went walking to Long Beach. Walking on Keppel is fun - there are paths but they're not well maintained so you have to climb over/under fallen trees and stuff. Long Beach is about a mile long and was almost completely deserted. So much so that, on suffering a sore arse, I figured I could put a wee bit of moisturiser on it if I faced my face towards the other people up the beach a fair bit. I was unfortunately oblivious to the GREAT BIG SHIP behind us. They got a fun show.
Sunday night was ill-advised. We decided to go to the pub and do some drinking - we haven't had a chance for a while, it was nice to feel liberated. Drinking was fun. So much so, we decided to sing Karaoke. Oh no. No no no. Bugger.
But then we sat on the beach and had big chats and saw a shooting star! We didn't go to bed til nearly midnight. We're big girls.
On Monday we had to leave and this was terribly sad. We did some stuff, then boarded the catamaran, with sunburnt legs (Ari) and feet (me) Rockhampton was there, and we slept.
Today we are acheiving useful things and tomorrow We Leave Rockhampton!!!
Love you all lots and lots!!!

PS Mozzie bites weren't as bad on Keppel. Think I might be allergic to Rocky.

Ned.
P.S: The camels are still there. They are very grumpy, but they did not try to eat me. I was pooed on by a parrot though! Awesome!
P.P.S: Nona is coming to lunch today. Have not seen her since I was a little girl. Apparently she is bonkers. Really not looking forward to this. Wish me luck. And lots of love to Becky. Is she still upset about the fuckwittage over the job? If she is would you please give her some chocolate from me and a big hug. Love you both. Really wish you were here.
