After realising that fixing Boris would cost considerably more than we paid for him, and that we have no money, we decided to freecycle Boris out to someone who could play with him. The alternative was getting 30 quid for him scrap, meaning he would be torn apart and then mostly put into landfill, which just registers as wrong on all my ethics.
Had about 20 replies on Freecycle, one of which was from a woman called Lyndsay, who had a minivan called Bertha the Shuggiebus who lives on a farm. She has a team of boys who help her fix such things.
So, Bors has been adopted out. His name has been changed from Boris Cass-Maran to Boris Stalin-Yeltsin. He will live out his days on a beautiful farm with a new big sister.
Plus, Lyndsay sings in a band that do weddings and offered us super cheap ratesin return for the car! Now, we won't take her up on this - we want Emily to sing at the wedding, and assorted others to do wee bits, and also - Ari met Euan in the street the other day. Ex-Auld Reekians - do you remember Euan the jumper who played in an awesome Gaelic band in Scots bar sometimes? Well, hopefully we gonna get them to do some proper rousing stuff.
Also - we hope to be getting married at St Anthony's Chapel after all, as it apparently hasn't been consecrated ground for so long, they let the gays in!
Point is, Boris is happy and his new Mum has promised to send photos.
