Hello everyone,
Brisbane has been very nice but very wierd. Ari's Uncle Michael is a god in human form, giving us a warm bed, the yummiest food imaginable and free reign of the house and time to play with his lovely lovely 2 1/2 yer old, Jack. Jack took time to size us up but now we're getting on like a house on fire. He likes us. This is good. We are trying to make new friends and this is a very good start.
Brisbane is a really lovely city and I sort of wish we were staying longer. There's a lovely part called the South Bank, wierdly enough on the South bank of the Brisbane river where they've created a little beach area. That's also where the museum is where we saw the Muttaburrasaurus skeleton (a dinosaur discovered in Muttaburra obviously. Tristan says I'm not allowed to laugh at the name. (heh heh)) and where we saw the Kylie exhibition and the art gallery, full of stuff Ari called inspired and I called pretentious wank.
The traffic lights are wierd in Australia. When you press the button it beeps slowly for ages until you pretty much want to kill yourself, but then it does this big electronic whoooosh sound followed by very fast beeping to tell you to cross, which intially I found terribly exciting, until we got to Brisbane, where there are crossing everywhere of course. Which means, standing at a crossing, you hear the whooshing noise, start to cross before seeing the red man ahead of you and realising the whoosh is from a different crossing.
Seeing as the system was designed for blind people I consider this a major design flaw.
Anyway, I'm going to go now. We are cooking dinner for Michael and Mel tonight and want to make sure it is stunning.

Oh by the way I had a haircut. It's very short now.

Date: 2005-09-27 03:52 am (UTC)I'm good. Only hate syntax, and since it goes with semantics, which is run by my delicious director, I can take it. Have only three ten am starts this year, which beats every day, and allows for late nights like these, yay!
Party on Friday, worried no one is coming. Although the more I think about it, the more I think how nice it'll be if it's small...

Date: 2005-09-27 02:26 pm (UTC)I also wish to see photographic evidence of the haircut. Is it nice short or lesbian short? I'm sure it looks beautiful either way, and Ari's Uncle sounds divine.
Are you going to work to help cash problems?
Got to go, but much love, hugs and licks

Date: 2005-09-27 10:44 pm (UTC)Ahem. He is the male Paterson offspring who went out and Did Stuff, and is therefore sort of Grandma's favourite. He is also lovely, though, especially if he gave you two a nice comfy bed somewhere in the warm. And oh, God, how old is Jack? How many damn cousins do we have? When is it going to end? Hey, how old is Beate now?
In fact, how were the other uncles? How was auntie Val? You must e-mail me, our correspondance lately has been frighteningly lax.
